Caravan and Motorhome Protection

A Significant Investment Needs Serious Protection.

A quality caravan or motorhome represents tens of thousands of dollars β€” and then it spends most of its life exposed to the harshest conditions Australia has to offer. UV radiation, salt air, road debris, bird droppings, tree sap and hard water spots all attack the exterior surfaces every single day. The Sunshine Coast's climate accelerates this damage faster than almost anywhere in the country.

At Quantum Detail we offer professional ceramic coating and paint protection film specifically for caravans and motorhomes. We understand the unique construction requirements β€” fibreglass, gelcoat and composite panels need different products to painted steel, and getting that wrong means poor adhesion and a failed job. Every vehicle is assessed before any product is applied.

All work is performed inside our controlled studio at Corbould Park β€” not on a driveway, not in a paddock. A caravan or motorhome is a large, complex vehicle that deserves the same professional environment as any prestige car. We've applied C1 Crystal Lacquer to full motorhomes and know what the job actually involves.

Vehicles We Protect

Caravans and Motorhomes

Every vehicle is assessed individually before we recommend a product or approach. Surface construction, age and condition all influence which protection is right for your specific vehicle.

Caravans
From entry-level caravans to premium configurations like the Supreme Executive β€” fibreglass and composite panel construction assessed and protected correctly. C1 Crystal Lacquer for gelcoat surfaces, CSL for painted panels. LLumar PPF available for high-impact zones.
Motorhomes
Class A, B and C motorhomes across all construction types. Large surface area, complex panel layout and significant investment β€” exactly why preparation and the right product selection matter. We've completed full motorhome C1 applications and understand the scope of these jobs.

Protection Options

Every Level of Exterior Protection

We offer a full range of exterior protection options for caravans and motorhomes β€” from ceramic coating through to paint protection film. What's right for your vehicle depends on its construction, condition and how you use it. All pricing is by assessment.

🎬
Paint Protection Film
LLumar PPF β€” Official Partner
LLumar PPF applied to high-impact zones β€” front panels, lower sections, A-pillars and anywhere debris contact is likely. Self-healing urethane provides physical barrier protection that ceramic alone cannot match. Available in Premium (7yr), Platinum (10yr) and Valor (12yr) film tiers. Particularly effective on motorhome front ends and caravan front walls that face into oncoming road debris.
⭐
Gtechniq HALO Over PPF
Gtechniq HALO β€” PPF Top Coat
HALO is Gtechniq's dedicated ceramic coating formulated specifically for application over paint protection film. Applied over LLumar PPF, it bonds directly to the film surface β€” adding ceramic-grade gloss, hydrophobicity and chemical resistance. The best possible result for high-impact zones β€” physical PPF protection underneath, ceramic performance on top.
πŸͺŸ
Glass Coating
Gtechniq Smart Glass
Hydrophobic glass coating applied to all windows and windscreens. Rain and water sheet off rather than sitting on the glass β€” significantly improving wet weather visibility on the road. Also makes removing bug splatter and tree sap dramatically easier after a long trip.
πŸ”˜
Wheel Coating
Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour
Heat-resistant ceramic coating for wheels and rims. Resists brake dust, road grime and corrosive debris bonding to the surface β€” keeps wheels cleaner for longer and makes them significantly easier to clean after trips on unsealed roads or through coastal conditions.
πŸ”§
Paint Correction β€” Older Vehicles
Machine Polish and Surface Restoration
If your caravan or motorhome is showing UV oxidation, chalking or surface dullness, paint correction or gelcoat restoration may be possible before protection is applied. We assess the surface condition and advise honestly on what's achievable β€” not every vehicle can be fully restored, but many can be significantly improved before coating.

New or Older Vehicle

The Right Approach Depends on Condition

A new caravan and a five-year-old motorhome require very different approaches. We assess every vehicle before recommending anything.

✨
New or Near-New Vehicle
The ideal time to protect is before the first trip β€” before UV, road debris and the elements have a chance to degrade the surface. A new caravan or motorhome in good condition goes straight to decontamination, assessment and protection. No correction required. Book as early as possible after delivery β€” the factory finish won't stay factory-fresh for long without protection.
πŸ”§
Older or Well-Used Vehicle
If the vehicle has seen UV oxidation, chalking, hard water staining or surface dullness, we assess what's achievable before quoting. In many cases gelcoat and paint surfaces can be restored significantly through machine correction before ceramic coating is applied β€” locking in the best possible result rather than sealing in deterioration. We'll tell you honestly what's achievable and what isn't.

Why the Studio Matters

A Caravan Deserves the Same Environment as Any Prestige Car

A caravan or motorhome is one of the largest and most complex vehicles we work on. The same controlled environment principles that make our ceramic coating work on prestige cars apply here β€” and matter even more given the surface area involved.

01
Dust-Free Application
Airborne contamination during coating application creates inclusions in the cured product. Our enclosed studio eliminates the variable β€” critical on large surface areas where any inconsistency is visible.
02
Studio Lighting
Every panel is assessed under professional lighting before any product is applied. Surface defects, oxidation patterns and gelcoat condition that are invisible in natural light are identified under studio conditions.
03
Controlled Temperature
C1 Crystal Lacquer and ceramic coatings require stable temperature and humidity to cure and bond correctly. Our studio removes the weather variables that affect adhesion and long-term durability.
04
Correct Product Selection
Fibreglass, gelcoat and painted panels each require different products. Applying the wrong product to the wrong surface results in poor adhesion and premature failure. We assess the construction first β€” always.
05
Multi-Stage Decontamination
Road grime, salt, wax residue and contamination must be fully removed before any coating or film is applied. Our decontamination process is the same regardless of vehicle size β€” it doesn't get skipped because the vehicle is large.
06
Structured Handover
Full Gtechniq warranty documentation, aftercare instructions and maintenance guidance provided on handover. You know exactly what was applied, what it covers and how to maintain it.

FAQ

Caravan and Motorhome Protection β€” Answered

What product do you use on fibreglass and gelcoat?

We use Gtechniq C1 Crystal Lacquer β€” a professional-grade coating specifically formulated for fibreglass and gelcoat surfaces. Unlike ceramic coatings designed for painted steel, C1 is engineered to bond correctly to the porous gelcoat surface found in most caravans and motorhomes. For any painted panel sections, we use Gtechniq CSL. The right product for the right surface β€” we assess before we apply.

Can you do paint protection film on a caravan or motorhome?

Yes. We're an official LLumar PPF installer and offer PPF on caravans and motorhomes for high-impact zones β€” front walls, lower panels, A-pillars and anywhere that takes the most debris contact on the road. We also apply Gtechniq HALO over the PPF for maximum performance β€” physical barrier protection underneath, ceramic-grade finish on top. Coverage and pricing are by assessment.

My caravan is looking dull and faded β€” can you restore it?

In many cases yes β€” but we assess first and tell you honestly what's achievable. Mild to moderate UV oxidation and chalking on gelcoat surfaces can often be significantly improved through machine correction before ceramic coating is applied. Severe chalking or damage that's gone through the gelcoat entirely may not be fully restorable without a respray. We'll give you a realistic assessment before quoting.

How long does a full caravan or motorhome job take?

It depends on the size of the vehicle and the scope of work. A ceramic coating application on a full caravan is a minimum 3-day job β€” decontamination, preparation, application and cure. Larger motorhomes and jobs that include PPF, correction or a full suite of add-ons take longer. Timing is confirmed at assessment.

Do I need to drop the caravan at your studio?

Yes β€” all work is performed at our studio at Corbould Park. We don't do mobile applications for coating or PPF work. The controlled environment is part of what makes the result stand up. Drop-off is Monday to Friday 8am–5pm.

How do I look after my caravan after it's been coated?

pH-neutral wash whenever it needs it β€” a pressure rinse and soft wash is all that's required for routine maintenance. Avoid harsh detergents, automatic car washes with brushes, and abrasive cleaners. The coating handles the rest. For Gtechniq warranty compliance, an annual inspection is required β€” which we offer free of charge as the accredited applicator.

How much does it cost?

All pricing is by assessment β€” caravan and motorhome jobs vary significantly based on vehicle size, surface construction, condition and scope of work. Call us on 0458 165 810 or get in touch via the contact form and we'll work through the right approach and provide an accurate quote before you commit to anything.
